KS1 Phonics Screening - Week Commencing 9th June 2025
The phonics screening check is taken individually by all children in Year 1 in England, and is usually taken in June. It is designed to give teachers and parents information on how a child is progressing in phonics. It will help to identify whether a child needs additional support at this stage so that they do not fall behind in this vital early reading skill.
Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) - 2nd June - 13th June 2025
The purpose of the check is to determine whether pupils can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help the teachers to identify pupils who may need additional support.
The MTC is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times tables questions. Children will answer 3 practice questions before moving on to the official check, and will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.
