History is a significant element of the wider curriculum at Beaconside. It allows pupils to study the past and the legacies of the past in the present. It connects things through time and encourages pupils to explore such connections.
Our community is an example of living history. We speak languages that are inherited from the past; we live in societies with complex cultures, traditions and religions that have developed over time; we use technologies and access resources that have been invented as a result of advancements throughout history. Our lives today are a result of great women and men who changed the world as they knew it.
Understanding the connections between past and present is absolutely essential if we are to make sense of the world today. History matters!
