We ask that parents make every effort to ensure that children arrive in school on time. We appreciate information as soon as possible when children are absent and for safety reasons include a telephone call to school on the first day of absence. Please send an explanatory note when your child returns. We like to have a contact number where you can be reached at any time should your child be taken ill or have an accident. We always notify parents in such events so that arrangements can be made to have the child collected.
Holiday absences are strongly discouraged and parents are asked to consider very carefully the effect that taking their child out of school for a holiday, during term time, may have on their education.
Each month we have a special assembly where we award our 'Attendance Bears' to each class. These bears were designed by the children in each class and are given out as a way of promoting good attendance.
To achieve and keep their bear on a monthly basis, each class must achieve a target of 96% attendance or higher.
Each term we track pupils attendance who have achieved 100% by coming to school everyday. All pupils who have achieved this will receive a special certificate and will then move their name up the sections of the Attendance'O'Meter. Pupils who achieve 100% for the whole year will finish in the gold zone and receive a special reward for their achievement.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
