Welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 Science Day
Year 5 were lucky enough to visit Waseley Hills High School for a Science 'potions' workshop. They had a fantastic morning and we would like to thank the Year 8 children for helping with all the experiments.
Sports week. We had a fantastic week; we took part in boxing and zumba classes as well as other sports. We also had a brilliant day where we cheered on all our teammates. On Thursday we made some healthy snacks and played a rounders match at Lickey Hills Primary School. It was a fabulous week and the children all agreed!
Aidan said "It was the best sports day ever."
This week has been our wellbeing and personal, social and emotional development activity week ‘US’. Year 5 have been extremely busy learning about our local community and much more. On Monday we were lucky enough to have Mrs Quinn delivered a fantastic workshop about dementia and what it is like to live with and how it affects us and what we can do to help people suffering with dementia. The children also had a very useful and informative workshop from the NSPCC.
On Tuesday the children took some time out to relax and reinvigorate their minds when they participated in Yoga with Mr Spittle. It allowed the children to enhance their physical flexibility, refine their balance and coordination, develop their focus and concentration, boost their self-esteem and confidence. In the afternoon the children visited the Clent Hills Veterinary group in Rubery. The children were looked after by Amy, Rebecca and Will. They met the lovely Ted and Sausage, discovered more about looking after their pets and what to do if it needed veterinary attention. The children had a fabulous afternoon and we can’t thank them enough for allowing us to visit.
Wednesday was another busy day with assembly practice and the visit of Defence Lab – Mark, Ryan and Tom delivered a brilliant workshop on how the children could defend themselves if they were being attacked. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and learnt lots of useful tips. Mr Baker from Hereford and Worcester Fire Service delivered a great session on fire safety. The children learnt what they should do if they ever found themselves trapped in a burning building or if their clothes ever caught on fire.
On Thursday the children performed their class assembly to the school and then had a workshop from on internet safety from the Police. Throughout the week, the children have also been completing a daily mile, which has been great fun. We hope you enjoy the photographs below.
Hannah said ‘she really enjoyed participating in the Defence Lab session. It was so much fun’
Elias said ‘It’s been great learning our assembly and performing it to the school and I feel the daily mile is really useful because it improves my stamina. All in all, it has been a great week’.

Take a look at some of the work Year 5 produced for the Roald Dahl Exhibition.
Roald Dahl's Dahlicious Dress Up Day
In Year 5 we have been studying George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. We produced a class set of instructions on how to create our own medicine. We then made the 'taste it if you dare medicine'. Surprisingly some of the children and even staff volunteered to taste the crazy creation! We hope you enjoy our photos from our fabulous day.
